Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Scarlet O’Hara used to be a rich and beautiful southern belle: the most popular in the whole county. Whatever she desired, she got. But soon the tables are turned and Scarlet’s life is dramatically changed. The South’s beloved Confederacy is now at war with the Yankees. Scarlet must now face the death of her husband, raising an unwanted child, and the eye-opening events going on all around her. The once extremely dependent and spoiled Scarlet must learn to fend for herself and adapt to the drastic changes in her life.
Although lengthy, Gone With the Wind is an outstanding novel, and definitely well worth the time. You are guaranteed to become glued to it’s dramatic and unpredictable storyline!

Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind is one of my favorite books. Set in the Deep South before, during, and after the Civil war, it portrays the life of Scarlett O’Hara, a young Southern belle who is the envy of all the young men and a spoiled brat. But with the start of the Civil War, Scarlett’slife is turned upside down. Soon she is a widow, a single mother trying to make things work in a man’s world. This story shows the dramatic change of a young girl who has depended on others her whole life to a lady who actually understands the weight of her actions. This is a romantic novel longer than any of the Harry Potter books, but the flow of the story along with the historical accuracy makes this an awesome read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is not afraid of romance or an extremely long read.
